Mojocafe on PlaystationPortable AND Nokia 5800 confirmed by Cegy

17 Sep, 2009 | admin | Too many Comments - 1 -
Ok, now the breaking news are getting crazy. I am just chatting with a Cegy in a PSP chat. He was so kind to check if his PSP works with the Flash Lite Version of the Mojocafe, and.... *drumroll* .... IT DOES!

Confirmation:
Mojocafe works on the PSP 2003 - 5.50 gen-a

AND as this would not be enough he took the chance to check it on his NOKIA 5800 and voila: it WORKS TOO!

The most astonishing thing is that on both devices the Mojos appeared in fullscreen directly. No hazzle or things to manually change. This just sounds great. What he and all of you do not know is that the last days i have been working on a NOKIA Application so that you can start the Mojocafe with just one tip on your mobile phone.

I will send Cegy the file as he is willing to test it out.
My aim is to put the Application inside the NOKIA OVI Store to see two things:
1st if my programming skills are enough to make the thing work
and
2nd to see how the developing workflow for the NOKIA OVI Store is.

More news at ... aeh... later!

Archos gen5 devices confirmed!

archos 605f
Some great news for today! Thanks to the help of _av500_ and dm8tbr i was able to make the MOJOCAFE work on ARCHOS gen5 devices. No exact details about how fluid the MOJOS are, but due to the processor power that these devices come with, you can be sure that they run smooth.

While testing we had to find out that some models do not like the fact that the main MOJOCAFE application tries to save a cookie on the device. Also it looks like loading external .PHP files were a hurdle. We couldn`t only find out if this was due to the ARCHOS system or the OPERA browser.
Nevertheless i am happy to see the Mojocafe on such a nice device as i think that the MOJOCAFE and the ARCHOS target group fit perfectly as "our end consumers" are interested in a stylish product. The ARCHOS productgroup allready is bold and offers great applications offering you more then an ordinary media player. And with the MOJOCAFE mojos on it, a new designing and personalizing option has arrived for every ARCHOS owner.
Thanks once again to _av500_ and dm8tbr for beta-testing.

I will look forward to bring the MOJOCAFE to the rest of the ARCHOS productfamily and keep you updated in here.

Mojocafe screensaver 2.0

16 Sep, 2009 | admin | Too many Comments - 1 -
The second version of the Mojocafe screensaver is online now.
It can be found by simply clicking the big yellow button on the startpage leading to the MOJOCAFE downloads.
The screensaver has no options to set up - it's just as simple as possible. Once an ID is entered, the screensaver saves that ID and starts by itself after 30 seconds (plus the time set up individually at the win screensaver time setting).

If you'd like to, download it directly through this link:

NOKIA WIDGET

16 Sep, 2009 | admin | Too many Comments - 1 -
The last days i have been trying several things at the same time. *ugh* crazy ! What i mean is that i checked if and how it is possible to bring the Mojocafe directly to the maemo AND a mobile plattform.
In facts this means that i have 8 gigs of SDK's, several IDE's and a lot more of stuff installed on my pc with that i tried to find a solution to bring the project to the mentiond plattforms. The result arrived today! With the help of the Aptana IDE i developed a Nokia Widget that brings the mojos right on the screen of a s60 3rd edition mobile phone.

And: yes it works!
Through the NOKIA remote device service i was able to install the mojocafe widget and bring it to a NOKIA 5800 music Express device - in fullscreen. It looks amazing!

So the next step was to register at Nokia and its OVI App store to but the app there online.
Unfortunately you have to pay 50 Euros, what is not the problem. But as you can only pay it with a credit card - that i do not have *sigh*

I allready posted it inside the NOKIA forums to check if it is possible to pay via PayPal, but no response so far.
So it might take a few days until i get a solution for this.

On the other hand i stranded on the Pandora plattform once again to see if the device is finished and distributed. It should be out within the next weeks by what rumours say. So i finished up a a Pandora IRC chat and asked about the Flash Lite option. Looks like the device will offer it what makes me more then happy.

UPDATE - FINISHED!

08 Sep, 2009 | admin | Too many Comments - 1 -
Geesus christ! It took me about four days to update the whole system - with an averag of 5 hours of sleep.
But finally it is done ! And i am so glad about the result.
It's not just the compact design so that the whole page even would work on netbooks, but more the fact that i found a way how users can use the Mojocafe without needing to register their account.

Before it was like this:
Users registered and received a password. With this password they were able to login and their "mojo-playlist" was gathered from the database and loaded inside the device.

Now it is like this:
Users make a playlist of four mojos. These can be the same or simply just different ones. Each playlist is saved with an ID-Code. All that the user has to do now to get his personalized Mojo playlist is to enter this code as soon as he visits http://m.mojocafe.net with his device.

It sounds easier then it is but it looks like it is working out perfect.
The biggest advantages of it: people do not have to register and provide any personal information. I hate to offer any kind of information without knowing whom i am handing these out to.
So it was one of my biggest wishes to develop a solution for a registration-free service and i found it :)

About the personal information necessary for the Weather Mojos i also found a neat way that i am going to implement later on.
This is, that the user data is NOT saved in a database but inside a local cookie. So the personal userinfo is always kept at the proper device and not somewhere outside in the internet in a database.

Ok - i am tired now. Tomorrow is going to be a tough day but i will manage it.
I just have been inside the maemo.org IRC channel to inform the people about the update. I received nuttin but NOTHING. Only one mate seemed interested but the rest simply just do not care.
Do the *nix folks hate Flash that much? Weird.
